Sign Up Optimization

A key product Volusion offers merchants is our payment services that connect directly to their store. An opportunity was identified to improve the signup experience and increase the number of form completions and revenue generated.

The original 6 step version of the form was developed in 2011 for merchants to sign up for the payments program. The form had over 50 fields that were not clearly marked as required or not. If there was an error detected when filling out any of the fields the user was not made aware until the submit button was clicked.

The form completion rate was less than 40%. Overall in need of big improvements.

The Results

The Results

Updates made to the new 3 step form: 
• Form fields decreased from 50 to 30
• The new form is also responsive
• Action colors on buttons and fields are consistent
• Progress bar was added at the top of the form

Results:
• Completion rate went up over 30% (from 40% to almost 75%)
•The projected YOY revenue increase is over $400,000
